You have a website. You manage one for someone else. Maybe you are heavy duty with social media and blog content or you are responsible to manage someone else’s online presence. If that is you or someone that you know, then you are well aware of the amount of love and labor that’s involved with the whole process.
When was the last time that you stopped for a moment and shared content from one of your friends, colleagues, or just someone that you happen to connect with occasionally? Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in our own thing that showing a little online love for someone else may end up becoming an afterthought.
Instead of just scrolling on through your timeline the next time you are on the social media channel of your choosing, why not take a moment and really take a look at what the members of your community are up to. Then take a closer look. Like it, show some love with a heart (use or whatever reaction or emoji you wish to use) and let that someone know that you are there for them and that you care. If there is something that you think you could contribute to the post or thread, go ahead and leave a comment. If you’re up for it, share it on your own timeline with your network.
Being aware and mindful of your surroundings on social media can be beneficial for you too. Did you know that by sharing content created by others you are also helping yourself? When you share content or even a news update on someone in your community you are paying it forward, and you also help build credibility for yourself. Doing this is extremely helpful for those working to grow and build an audience for their brand.
Sharing the work of others also helps when you are short on time or ideas. It’s common to have those moments where we want to share something, and know what topic we’d like to share something on, but find ourselves in a bit of a creative fog. Maybe we currently lack the verbiage or proper vocabulary to share what’s on our mind on a particular topic. This would be the perfect opportunity to get the word out on a blog post, event, or even something else that deserves worthy recognition.
Recently, fellow WordPress community member Jason Tucker started a campaign to help encourage others to get the word out about the great things our friends and others who might be a part of our network are working on. Jason is sharing tips on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on different ways you can be supportive of others. A lot of time and effort is going into what Jason is working to achieve for the benefit of others, so take a moment to check out what he and others have been working on and show a little love and support. He credits social media and WordPress community influencers Jen Miller and Bridget Willard as the inspiration behind this project that he is incredibly passionate about.
The concept is really simple. All you have to do is exactly what the hashtag says that Jason is using: #LikeShareBecauseYouCare. There’s no hidden message or agenda at all.
Just be human and show that you care. ❤
