Hi, I’m Angelina Simms!

I am an Information Systems student with a focused interest in Cybersecurity.

My interests have led me towards the path of advocacy work in technology that benefits those with disabilities, primarily within the areas of healthcare, education, and activities of daily living, especially when it comes to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.

Technology helps increase independence for those with disabilities, their caregivers, service providers, and others in the community. There is a need to have secure systems in place for everyone as they go about their daily lives. More work needs to be done to promote cybersecurity awareness and advocate for those who rely on technology for healthcare and educational services.

What I’m Up To

Advocate & Ambassador

As an Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador, and an advocate for members of the assistive technology and disability communities, I work to promote awareness, inclusion and acceptance through social media, awareness-based events, and sharing resources.

Speaker & Leader

I believe in the importance of giving back and helping others. As a servant-leader, I apply what I learn as a member of Toastmasters International to work with families, caregivers, and others who wish to advocate and serve as leaders in their communities.

Lifelong Learner

My studies in Information Systems and Cybersecurity have led me down the path of pursuing ways to make a meaningful impact on communities at the intersection of technology and promotion of public health education to empower people.
